Google's Andy Rubin: Nexus 7 may head to retail, but we're not changing tablet app policies

Google's Andy Rubin Nexus 7 may head to retail, but we're not changing tablet app policies

We've got good news and bad news in equal measure for those pining after a Nexus 7 of their very own. If you're reluctant to spend that much hard-earned cash at the Google Play Store, Google's senior VP of mobile Andy Rubin has hinted to AllThingsD that the ASUS-made tablet could end up at retail stores before too long; the Play-only availability was just what Google had to mention at I/O. There could be some markup in other channels, given that Google is selling at what's very nearly wholesale prices. The bad news? Google won't be changing its attitude towards tablet-native apps anytime soon. Rubin sees Google Play content additions as key to driving Android tablet adoption, not the encouragement of tablet-specific app development -- he'd prefer the one-size-fits-all model. We'll see whether magazines and movie sales are enough to turn around so-so market share, but if you were hoping Rubin would address criticisms that Android tablet apps are just blown-up phone apps, you'll have to keep waiting.

Brigantine Real Estate Sales & Rentals Moving Online | Brigantine ...

As the market rebounds, Brigantine real estate is going online. Buyers, sellers, builders?..even renters?.. are moving more of their efforts to the Internet.

Brigantine Real Estate fsbo

Brigantine FSBO; For Sale By Owner

We?ve recently noticed the use of QR codes on real estate lawn signs. These square images are similar to the bar code you find on a loaf a bread scanned at your grocery store check-out. Interested in this home? Just take a picture with your smart phone and you?ll get all the pictures, video and details you can handle.

The Web is the #1 communication platform for real estate.?Back in the day, expensive newspaper ads were needed to market a house or find a vacation rental. Today, that?s no longer the case.

With newspaper, we were lucky to see one picture in the ad, with a few lines describing the property.?Today, we just need a web connection to enjoy a virtual tour of the home and to quickly see Google maps of the surrounding area.

Some are?selling their properties on their own, without a traditional real estate agent and broker.?For a few hundred bucks, the property can be listed in the MLS; the Multiple Listing Service. Companies like Homes Advisor can help you with that.

Some homeowners are frustrated by old school agents not maximizing the power of digital marketing. Some are creating their own virtual tours, on their self-made websites. Here?s example of Brigantine Real Estate Web Tour?on a web page.

Looking for that perfect vacation rental on Brigantine Beach? Maybe you want another way to market your rental property? Try VRBO; Brigantine Vacation Rentals by Owner

Sydney Levin: 'Real Housewives of New Jersey' Recap: My How the Tables Have Turned

Two miles past crazy lies a borough called Franklin Lakes. In that borough, Caroline Manzo is not happy. And when Caroline Manzo is not happy, nobody is happy. This episode of "Real Housewives of New Jersey" begins with Caroline's explanation of why she was randomly lurking in the shadows of Jacqueline's yard during the epic Teresa/Jacqueline Friendship War last week. (As you'll recall, there were no survivors.) "I was bringing over swimsuits ... and I walk into just a pile of bullshit," she explains. Girlfriend, watch where you're stepping or those Aldo sandals won't last the summer! She then reminds us that she is "done" with Teresa. This is an important update, because it's not like she spends every waking moment reminding us that she is "done" with Teresa.

Out back, the rest of her family plus Jacqueline's husband Chris and fabulous roomie Greg are discussing the big brawl. Apparently, delicate flower Jacqueline cried all night and still cannot rouse herself from bed. Chris likens Jacqueline's meltdown to the way she dealt with her first husband: "What did she do? She threw all his shit on the front lawn that day. That was it, it was over. That's exactly what she's doing now. She just put all of Teresa's shit on the front lawn." Chris admits that he's hurt, too, and he's worried that they'll be lapping up a lot more whining than wine if the Giudices go on the upcoming Napa trip. They decide to make it an open invite and mandate that the ladies clear everything up before they venture out. Oh yeah sure, 'cause burying the hatchet would really make good TV, right? Get ready for a bottle of red, a bottle of white ... and probably a bottle to Teresa's head.

Over at Jacqueline's house, it's sob central. She explains that after last night's drama, she had a complete breakdown. She's also hysterical in her interview, probably because she finally realized that she has been conducting interviews in a one-shoulder sparkly purple number purchased from Baby Prostitute Gap. (Hey, toddlers gotta make money too!) Or maybe it's because she realizes that last night's quarrel was more than just a fight -- it was an actual breakup. And like any girl feeling kinda bad about dumping a loser, she's trying to rationalize the situation. "It's not like I'm going to say I regret being her friend. I had a lot of fun times with her too, but who wants to have an enemy? If neither of you are getting what you need out of the friendship, it's pretty much over."

Meanwhile, in one of those, "Hey, less intelligent creatures can feel pain, too" moments, Teresa describes her own breakdown. "After I left Jacqueline's house, I went to Dina's house." (Future Drama Alert: Dina is Caroline's currently estranged sister.) Teresa tells Juicy Joe how everything exploded, and how her contact with Danielle (aka "Beverly Ann" aka "Bonkers McInsane Pants") was dredged up. Juicy Joe knows a good way for Teresa to deal with Jacqueline: "Tell her to shuddddup! Be quiet, you hypocrite."

He then tells Teresa to find a new friend. "You've got me. Move on," he says. Though having him as a friend sounds like a fate worse than death, it is a sweet gesture. For all his seemingly endless faults, he's very protective of his wife, and anyone who's ever lost their temper knows that anger is often just a louder form of sadness. Teresa reminds her new buddy that they've got Melissa's song release party the next day, and submitting to an aural assault is the only way Teresa can begin to repair that relationship. She explains that since she can't trust her old friends, she must ensure that her family unit stays as tight as Juicy Joe's fiiiiine rear.

At Kathy's house, everything is literally coming up roses as she gardens the day away. But as she's happily pruning -- which I would like you all to consider as an allegory for the limitation of friendship -- she's interrupted by a thorn in her side. Well, actually, it's in her pocket. Her phone rings and it's Teresa asking if they can maybe grab a bite to eat so that they can be BFFAEAEAE again and have a sleepover and wear a face mask and talk all night about super hunky Rick in science class who looks good in whatever he wears. Kathy thinks it's all a bit weird, but she accepts the invite. "Are there any ulterior motives?" she queries. "I don't know."

At lunch, Teresa orders cawfee and french toast, while Kathy has a veggie wrap. It's very symbolic: Teresa has been battered and now she's laying her emotions face-up on a plate, waiting for Kathy to pour the sweet, sweet syrup of love and redemption everywhere. Meanwhile, Kathy is still feeling closed off, like a bunch of vegetables being suffocated by a carbohydrate. Actually that's total BS and I really just wanted to see how far I could potentially bring this edible metaphor. I'll take a check, Freud.

Anyhoo, at the table, the camera zooms in on a rose. Trying to make some weird "Bachelorette" reference, sneaky cameraman? It is sort of like Teresa's on a totally warped date, hoping that old flame Kathy will want to see her again. "We were like sisters. You know how much I loved you," Teresa starts in. "That love for me hasn't changed ever," Kathy replies.

Apparently that's enough validation for Teresa, and she launches into her fight with Jacqueline/Caroline instead of digging deeper into the broken relationship sipping water right in front of her. Good ol' veggie wrap Kathy's got her number, though. She explains her light bulb moment in an interview: "Ah, ding ding ding, this is why she's called," she realizes. "She needs someone to be on her side." Still, Kathy's extremely fair. She's hopeful that Teresa's "all by myself" moment is the jolt of pain that will straighten her priorities. Then, Kathy whips out old school photos she like, totally randomly had in her bag along with teeny-tiny bloomers that Teresa gave Victoria after she was born. They are both ravenous after that Olympic heart-strings pulling, so they chow down, Lauren Manzo-style. (It's OK, I know that when I get to hell Satan will have a copy of these recaps with sentences like that one highlighted.)

The only thing heavier than Teresa and Kathy's talk is Melissa's makeup. She's getting all dolled up because she has to call Ryan Seacrest -- and when you're as famous as him, you actually have the magic ability to see through a phone. (You get it along with your SAG card.) He's about to debut the remix of "On Display," the song Melissa and auto-tune have been toiling over in the basement. It's a very complex ditty, with lyrics like: "On display/on display/ on display/ each and every day/every day/every day." But in a moment of clarity, Melissa says she knows Ryan doesn't really like her song ... but it's fine 'cause all that matters is what the world thinks. Then, with his kids on his lap, Joe decides to chime in. "You know why she sings so well?" he asks with a "Shame" glimmer in his eye. Ryan doesn't ask why. "It's all the practice in the bedroom," Joe exclaims. "Pretty soon she's going to be doing opera!" Ryan starts to dry heave and has to hang up as quickly as possible so that he can push to a commercial break before hurling everywhere. (I mean, I assume.)

At Teresa's house, she and Juicy Joe are having a special moment with nature. He cannot find the koi that once lived in their pond. Teresa looks at a bird that is very obviously a heron and proclaims that a "stork" probably ate 'em. But you can't really fault Teresa for being confused about what a stork looks like: The one that brought her children was red with horns and a tail, shrieking, "They're you're problem now!" It was a beautiful scene.

They sit down and Teresa cautiously mentions that she's still considering therapy. Joe expresses his feelings ("I'm embarrassed for you"), but Teresa explains that this is her last resort, and she'll do anything to mend fences -- even if it means going against her husband. Joe then gives us a window into his hatred of couches. "I was 11, the school tried to send me to therapy. And all these coo-coo birds were running around, and my mother was like, 'Oh my god!' I was getting in trouble, but I wasn't made for that school." Teresa pats him on the back and reminds him that therapy may have been a mistake for him, but it could be just the ticket for her and her brother. She's careful to always remind us that she's doing it for her bro, not because she actually needs it. "Don't you want us to all be a family?" she pleads. Finally, he gives them his blessing, and the koi and heron dance together in beautiful harmony. Since Melissa's sham-of-a-song party is that night, it's the perfect opportunity for Teresa and her brother to hash things out in what I'm sure will be a very quiet, loving and peaceful manner.

Melissa's all a-Twitter as she drives to the party, but Twitter's not all about her. People are calling her a "fame whore" and hating on her tunes. Though she tries to block it out, it's obviously hurtful. Seriously, who just sits on the internet writing nasty things about people they feel they're above? (Like, besides me, I mean.) In her own car, Teresa and Juicy Joe are reading the 160 character criticism, too -- but they're both more worried about their own issues. Joe gets a text from Jacqueline's husband, Chris, that says, "Just want you to know I'm upset about what happened." This does not bode well.

The party is crazy garish and cheesy, like Atlantic City trying on a discount version of Vegas' heels. Melissa has obviously dressed the theme: She's totally "On Display." Let's just say this party won't rack up any interior decorating awards. Get it? I'm trying to very subtly hint that she has gigantic knockers and her D-cups runneth over. While she works the corner ... I mean the crowd, the other gals hate on Teresa. If looks could kill, Teresa would have burst into flames the second she entered, going down in a blaze of burnt hair extensions and melted acrylic. Jacqueline glares at her with angry drunk eyes and then wonders why Teresa doesn't come over to be verbally water-boarded.

Jacqueline feels that it's "sad that we're ... not even going to acknowledge each other." Girlfriend, get yourself together. There's no "Ending a Friendship" instruction guide, but I'm pretty sure that when you banish someone from your life, that includes party banter. Cold-as-ice Caroline, however, isn't phased about the proximity to her adversary. "I'm not nervous. I don't plan on speaking to her. Kill me now." Uhm, if you'd rather die than speak to someone, it does seem like you care an awful lot. Just saying, Caro.

Now that the alcohol's flowing, Teresa's tongue has been loosened. She asks her brother if they can chat out back. She says she definitely wants to go to therapy, and Joe tries to contain his joy. "You see how much I love you? I'm so weak with you," he says.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline's hurt that Teresa doesn't seem to want to talk to her about their issues, and it's all she can focus on. It's very unattractive and needy and makes me rethink how I often deal with exes. Some people call it "stalking," but I consider it "freestyle caring."

As Jacqueline gets more hammy pants (Hammy Pants, adj: very sloppy drunk), she gets more vocal. After bitching to her pals, she bitches to her husband, but her complaints are drowned out by the bumpin' remix. Still, she can barely bring herself to dance -- and the next thing we know, she's sloshed her way over to interrupt a convo and bombard Teresa. Jacqueline tells her she's been crying for days, and Teresa says she feels like her "brain is about to come out of her head." I think that means she's sad, too. Jacqueline apologizes, and says the fight wasn't "supposed to be an ambush; it was supposed to be an awakening." At this point, they're not yelling, but their hand movements start to get all Michael J. Foxy and you know screaming is around the corner. "I'm really hurt and disappointed," Teresa stutters. Jacqueline starts in with the world's worst retort: "So am I." She says it six times for effect. I counted because we're all in this terrible show together and I love you.

As the fight escalates, Teresa tells us off-camera that she should have just "punched [the bitch] in her face." I'm now rooting for a table-flipping moment but alas, it never comes. Production probably nailed them down to avoid a lawsuit anyway. Back at the party, they're talking at each other and throwing every possible barb in their arsenal; while at the bar, their husbands talk calmly and don't try to beat each other up so I sort of stop listening. News of the fight has snaked its way through the crowd and it ultimately gets to Melissa. It's unfortunate that her song -- awful as it is -- has to be drowned out by the screeching of two lunatics. Finally, she walks over to diffuse things. "We don't know who each other is anymore," Jacqueline sighs. Somewhere in the world, an English teacher drops dead. Teresa uses the mess as a segue to hash out issues with her sister-in-law and tells Jacqueline to beat it. With an epic gulp of her beverage, Jacqueline trounces away. "I see you for exactly what you are," Jacqueline growls. (Actually, she's probably seeing double thanks to that last glass.) For someone who got exactly what she claimed to want -- a life without Teresa -- she isn't too happy. And for a quote-unquote "Vegas girl," she seems like someone who got her bluff called pretty hard

While Jacqueline drinks herself into oblivion, Teresa continues to hammer away at Melissa. She's all wigged out about Melissa's communication with Danielle, but it's a pretty mind-bogglingly bad time for a chat that's a few years in the making. Melissa admits to everything, including the fact that she "hated" Teresa during her second pregnancy. After they unload all that knockoff Gucci baggage, they apologize and discuss moving forward. There's even a double high-five, which is like, the biggest symbol of atonement in the universe. It's the most civilized fight ever in the history of "Housewives."

In the spirit of making up, my girl Rosie even kisses Joe Giudice. "Can't you believe how much the tables have turned?" Teresa smirks. "I never imagined me getting along with Melissa and Kathy, but fighting with Jacqueline and Caroline." Poor Jacqueline whimpers, "I lost a best friend tonight. F--- it" into her vodka and tears. She goes home and, presumably, listens to a lot of Death Cab for Cutie.

"Champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends" is how the saying goes ... but I'm still not quite sure what Teresa's drinking.

"The Real Housewives of New Jersey" airs at 10 p.m. ET on Sundays on Bravo.

The Baby Boomer ? hot news

The term Baby Boomer refers to people born between the years 1946 and 1964 Today people born in that era have a different mind set than people born in other eras. It?s interesting when I observe friend I have who are Baby Boomers . They are just like anybody who are also a parent trying their best to provide good parenting to their children and following some parenting tips to have effective family communication. For some their ?use by date? is fast approaching, they now reflect on how old they were and decided that they are too old to follow through on some of their dreams. For others they focused on how much they haven?t achieved and they reminisce on what they could have achieved had they had more time. Many people regret each passing year, as if age were taking something from them rather than adding to them. They are at risk of depression and some suffer from Stress and panic attacks. It is not uncommon for people to lose their identity as they become totally absorbed in one area of life, be it family or work that they sacrifice many other areas. It is not until some significant event happens: again be it children growing up or perhaps retirement approaches, a mid life crisis or even ill health strikes that one takes the time to reflect upon what hasn?t been achieved. If you are a baby boomer and this represents how you feel about the process of growing older, you could be missing out on a great deal of rewarding personal challenge and fulfillment. For me I don?t identify with this mindset. I believe that how age affects you is largely up to you. And yes, you can imagine yourself years from now sitting inert, in an armchair for the rest of your life. Or you can visualize a dynamic old age, in which you are busy and feel stretched and rewarded. For me I took the later approach and I am glad I did.You see, the assumption that old age means inevitable physical and mental decline is incorrect. In fact, scientists have provided proof that growing older can actually enhance mental powers. It is a period that can bring wisdom, peace and grace. To make the most of this time ? to grow in wisdom rather than let life close in around you ? requires a willingness to tackle challenges, and to welcome change and new experiences. In other words, it means pursuing a dynamic creative life, retaining a thirst for knowledge and exploration of the world and of the individual within. Understand this I imagined a picture of myself being busy and feeling stretched and rewarded I took action. I defined goals for myself and I took action. It happened some 10 years ago, I found myself in a strange paradox, one where I was looking back in the past and to the future at the same time. My past reflected raising two children, operating a business and maintaining a healthy relationship with my husband. I was approaching my 50th birthday and I felt that I needed to assess what it was that I wanted to be doing for the rest of my self.Having read many books I realized that there were many people who in their mature years, some as old as 90, who took control of their fate and embarked on re discovering themselves. They undertook training and the rest is in the history books.Colonial Sanders , at the age of 65, chased his personal legend and launched Kentucky Fried Chicken, creating a reputation and amassing himself a fortune. The contemporary English novelist, Mary Wesley, wrote her first novel at age 70. Teiichi Igarashi was 89 when he first climbed to the top of Japan?s Mt. Fuji . He repeated this feat annually and became the first over 100-year-old to conquer the summit.I wanted to live my life to the full, but first I had to change some of my limiting beliefs, and I had to align my values to reflect what was important to me at that stage of my life.I have come a long way since then, I undertook training as a Life Coach, I believed with the wealth of experience I had in all areas of life I would make a great coach and mentor. I undertook training in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and became a trainer, I undertook studies in Clinical Hypnotherapy and am now a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and there were many other modalities that I studied including Counselling. I have written and had published books and released a set of Hypnotherapy recordings. How did I do this? What do I have that perhaps many Baby Boomers lack? To be completely honest it is nothing more than that I have an insatiable curiosity and I have a passion to live life to the full. Anyone can achieve what I have achieved and even more. You have the power to be who you want to be???.all you need to do is plan for it???..Education Training and information are crucial in enriching people?s lives. Many educational establishments welcome older student.Keep redefining your goals and making new ones Don?t dwell on unrealised goals from your younger daysExpect to be active. Don?t book yourself into the retirement home while you are still healthy.Keep levels of stimulation high. Don?t imagine that you will be content to potter in the garden if your work has always been important to youIt is important to remember that: After you reach maturity, your life does not begin inexorably to ebb from you. Growing older gives opportunities for continuous creative development. To read more articles and become more inspired to live the life you want to live go to http://www.lifestylepluscentre.com there you will find a treasure trove of valuable articles and resources which I hope you get great value out of.

Vietnamese vice president visits Thailand

BANGKOK, June 22- Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra welcomed Vietnam?s Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan at Government House on Friday, as both sides agreed to foster bilateral ties between the two countries and support greater roles for women at the regional level.

Madame Doan officially visit Thailand on June 20-24 as a guest of the Thai government to strengthen bilateral ties, as the two countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

After a welcoming ceremony, Ms Yingluck and Madame Doan held bilateral talks to exchange ideas and views on furthering bilateral relations, cooperation, and development as well as to foster strategic partnership in terms of politics, economies, society, culture, and education.

During her official trip to the kingdom, the vice president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will travel to Thailand?s northeastern provinces of Nakhon Phanom and Khon Kaen, where there are historical connections between Thailand and Indochina, and is to meet with provincial governors.

In addition, Madame Doan is set to visit the Thai-Vietnamese Friendship Village and meet with the large Vietnamese community in Nakhon Phanom where Ho Chi Minh, father and first president of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (North Vietnam) from 1945 to 1969 and an iconic leader of the post-World War II anti-colonial movement in Asia, once resided.

Affectionately known to Vietnamese as Bac (Uncle) Ho, the Vietnamese independence leader visited Bangkok and lived in Nakhon Phanom in the late 1920s. (MCOT online news)

Health: Fitness Tips For Life

Treadmill workouts are a very popular activity, but why teadmill workouts you may wonder? While it is true that exercises come with many benefits, not all of us are able to keep up with our regular workout routines, sometimes out of lack of time, and at other times out of plain lethargy. In this article I would offer you one workout idea which would virtually make fitness as easy as pie for you.

Treadmills are one of the most popular home exercise equipments out there. It should be in the house of anyone who cares even a little bit about their health. Okay, I know that the treadmill needs no introduction, but are you aware of all its benefits? If not, then this article is for you.

Huge time saver: Many people cannot workout regularly because of lack of time. They have a job to handle as well as a family to look after. Add social pressure to the mix and you could get an idea of how much stressed and busy an individual could be these days.

Thankfully, with treadmill workouts, lack of time won?t hinder your fitness routine. Being a home-based equipment, you can exercise whenever you want. You can choose your workout routines flexibly. For example, if you are supposed to exercise for 30 minutes per day, you could do 15 minutes of workout before going to office and the other 15 minutes just before bedtime.

Reasons Why Treadmill Workouts Are Great Exercise

treadmill workouts

Less boring and strenuous: Exercises like aerobics bore the hell out of you because you need to do them for hours in order to derive any decent benefit from them; plus they also command your concentration all the time; naturally, by the time you are finished with them, you feel as if you would never be able to repeat the exercise again.

On the other hand, if you do intense workouts like weight training, they would take much less of your time but are too strenuous for an average individual. If you have never done it before, you would find weight training and boring.

Treadmill workout is however one exercise which fits the bill perfectly for almost everyone. It is neither too boring nor strenuous. If you run or walk on the treadmill, it won?t be any different than plain walking or running on road, except that the treadmill workout would command much less attention and time from you than the latter. Being less demanding compared to other exercises, it doesn?t bore you either.

Secure and private: Many people feel uncomfortable at the prospect of going to a gym or hiring a fitness trainer. They believe that their proactive approach towards health and fitness would be perceived wrongly by their peers and relatives; they would think that they are doing all these in order to get rid of obesity. It is not unusual, especially at backward societies, to notice a group of people poking fun at someone who is heavy on workouts.

However, a treadmill, being secure in the privacy of your home, is safe from the prying eyes of your neighbors and buddies. You can exercise for as long as you want and whenever you want; no one would ever know about it.

Reasons Why Treadmill Workouts Are Great Exercise

Anti-tax pledge author meets with House GOP

(AP) ? All but 13 of the 289 Republicans in the House and Senate have signed a pledge vowing to oppose tax increases. On Thursday, the author of that pledge met with some of them to help them understand exactly what it is they signed.

In the process, anti-tax activist Grover Norquist sparked a fresh barrage of criticism from Democrats who accuse him and his pledge of being one of the major impediments to a bipartisan debt-cutting deal. Norquist and Republicans defended the pledge, denied that he is hurting his party because he has become a political target, and said that Washington's gridlock on the issue is not his fault.

The pledge has been "extremely helpful" to the Republican Party, Norquist told reporters after meeting privately with Republicans for about an hour, saying it has helped Republicans define a position that is popular with voters.

"They're not going to raise taxes to pay for Obama-sized government," Norquist, who heads Americans for Tax Reform, said of Republicans. "They're going to reduce Obama-sized government down to a size the American people will tolerate and are willing to pay for."

Thursday's session came at a time when some Republicans in Congress and elsewhere have been distancing themselves from Norquist's pledge, saying all options need to be available if the two parties are to concoct a debt-reduction agreement. It also comes during an election-year fight over whether to extend expiring tax cuts for the rich at the end of this year, as Republicans want and President Barack Obama and Democrats oppose, and whether to overhaul the entire tax code.

People in the meeting said around 15 House GOP lawmakers and about 100 aides attended. The session focused on how to respond to questions about the pledge and traced its history and explained its meaning, participants said, adding that no lawmakers gave the impression that they wanted to back away from it.

"There was no discussion in there today about amending anything, wiggling around or anything," said Rep. Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C.

With some in Congress beginning to concentrate on how the two parties might reach a budget agreement later this year, some Republicans like Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., have expressed a willingness to eliminate tax breaks and use some of the money that would produce to reduce deficits. That would violate a tenet of Norquist's pledge, which says any money raised that way must be used to lower tax rates.

Early this month, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, a leading national figure in the GOP, said he had never signed the pledge because he does not believe politicians should "outsource your principles and convictions to people."

Norquist told reporters that those who have signed the pledge have made a "commitment to the American people" and should "focus on the commitment they made."

The bearded Norquist, whose pledge has been around since 1986, has become a favorite whipping boy for Democrats though he is scarcely a household name. With even GOP presidential challenger Mitt Romney having signed the pledge last year, Democrats see it as the symbol ? and a cause ? of the GOP's refusal to back a deficit-cutting deal last summer as Obama and House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, tried reaching a compromise.

"They ought to be sitting down and working things out instead of holding court for him," said Rep. Sander Levin, top Democrat on the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, as he wandered past the committee hearing room where the meeting was being held. "Norquist is here to hold feet to the fire when what we need are open minds."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., called Norquist on Thursday "the leader of the Republican Party." House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said she believes Norquist and congressional Republicans "are in touch every day" and said Norquist believes his pledge is more important than the oath lawmakers take to uphold the Constitution.

Norquist said Democratic criticism is "a matter of desperation" for them. He said Reid is putting some rank-and-file Democrats facing difficult re-election fights under excruciating political pressure because they may be forced to decide whether to oppose continuing tax cuts for the rich.

"He's destroying these peoples' political careers," Norquist said.

To Buy or Not to Buy a Convertible Crib | Product Reviews

As parents are out shopping for and comparing the different sleeping options for their baby, they are faced with the task of having to make some difficult choices.? Cribs are not cheap, and parents want to make sure that they make the best choice for their needs to keep from spending their hard earned money on alternate options.? Some families swear by their convertible crib, and others prefer the standard crib selection.? So let?s review the differences between the two.

A convertible crib can do just that, convert.? It begins as a standard crib and then as the baby grows into a toddler, and then into an older child, it grows along with them.? With this type of crib, it can usually convert into 3 or 4 different sleeping options: the standard crib, the toddler bed, a full headboard and a daybed.? Depending on the brand and model, you will find combinations of the above listed items.

Some convertible cribs come with the conversion kit as part of their package and some need to be purchased separately.? The cost if purchased separately should be factored into the overall budget for the crib.? Many parents enjoy that they do not have to buy additional beds for their child as he or she grows, thereby saving money on future unnecessary purchases.

Some families do not wish to buy a convertible crib for various reasons including: planning to use the crib for a subsequent baby, wishing to buy the child an all-inclusive bedroom set when he or she outgrows the crib, letting him or her help decide which bedroom set they like (something they cannot obviously do as infants), etc.

Whether your family decides to purchase a convertible crib or a standard crib, do your research beforehand to ensure you are getting the one that will best suit your needs.? They all have different features.? Customers have shared feedback about their purchases and can help give you the birds eye view of the product before you go ahead and buy it.

'Jail sucks, but I've got the ball,' fan says

Mariners fan gets nailed by security but not before getting his first ball at a game

updated 9:06 a.m. ET June 20, 2012

SEATTLE - Ever wonder what induces an otherwise sane baseball fan to leap onto the field of play during a Major League Baseball game in pursuit of a foul ball? I did when I witnessed it for the umpteenth time ? but the first time in person ? Friday night at Seattle?s Safeco Field.

Well, Seattle Mariners fan Brad Good, the young man whose pursuit of the foul ball overcame all social and legal inhibitions, can offer one answer.

?I?ve seen them come right by me and one time half my body was over the rail and the ball touched my hand,? he said. ?? This one I wasn?t letting go.?

What Good, a 23-year-old college student from Everett, Wash., let go instead was any semblance of caution.

When a wicked line drive to right off the bat of San Francisco Giants outfielder Gregor Blanco was called foul, even though it appeared to this Giants fan to have hit the foul line, he jumped to his feet, took two or three steps down the aisle, neatly vaulted the railing and gloved the ball.

Speaking with a reporter the next day, Good said he intended to quickly climb back into the stands, where he figured he would be escorted out of the park with his treasured Rawlings in hand. Instead he was quickly grabbed by security guards, forced face down on the field, handcuffed and then taken away through a door in the outfield wall.

Courtesy Brad Good

Brad Good of Everett, Was., is subdued by Seattle Mariners security personnel during a game against the San Francisco Giants on June 15.

?I certainly didn?t expect that,? he said.

Impressively, Good managed to toss the ball over to the railing, where a friend attending the game with him retrieved it.

?When they were cuffing me, I had the ball in my right hand and I kind of ? rolled it to my buddy, he said. ?? I was totally focused on that ball and how it was going to go home with me. ?

Good said he spent about three hours in the King County jail before being released with paperwork indicating he could face charges of criminal trespass in the second degree, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

But that?s an unlikely outcome, according to a Mariners spokeswoman and a Seattle prosecutor.

Rebecca Hale, the spokeswoman, said the team?s director of security and vice president of ballpark operations typically decide whether to press charges after consulting with the security supervisor who worked the game.

?It?s a consultative effort,? she said. ?They can pretty well tell from the moment something happens what needs to happen (to the offender). It depends on the circumstances. Last year we had four fans run onto the field in one game, including one who was streaking. We look at those types of situations differently than someone who gets a little carried away with excitement.?

Ian Goodhew, a spokesman for the King County District Attorney?s Office, said prosecutors take their cue from the team.

?We?ll probably consult with Mariners security and ask how they want to handle this,? he said.

Goodhew has lots of experience with overly exuberant fans who venture onto the playing field. He even recalls his favorite arrest report from an on-field excursion, which read simply, ?The subject elected to run out on the field of play before me and 42,000 other witnesses.?

He said even when the team presses charges, few trespassers receive the maximum penalty. ?Most cases result in a deferred sentence and community service. And the charge is dismissed as long as you stay clean.?

The intruders also often are banned from the ballpark for a specified period, usually the remainder of the current season, Hale said.

Both Goodhew and Hale said that alcohol plays a role in most such lapses of judgment, but Good says that his mad dash wasn?t fueled by liquor. And despite his very public arrest, he doesn?t really regret his pursuit of the coveted trophy.

?Jail sucks, but I?ve got the ball, the story is incredible and seeing all the fans cheer when I got up was incredible,? Good said. ?At this point it was worth it. But I certainly wouldn?t do it again.?

In February, Congress passed legislation that requires a ?showing of interest? from 50 percent of the airline employees before the National Mediation Board could hold an <b>Union</b> representation election. Before that law change, the NMB required signatures from 35 percent of the employees for whom representation was sought. The Communications Workers of America, which seeks to represent American Airlines? passenger service agents, on Dec. 9 asked the NMB to call an election. The request prompted the board to begin its investigation of whether there was a sufficient showing of interest to justify a vote. On Feb. 14, Congress imposed the 50 percent rule. On April 19, the NMB ruled that there were enough signatures under the 35 percent rule to justify the election. Relief from Greek election likely to be fleeting

ATHENS (AP) ? Greece's election result has eased fears of an imminent financial disaster for Europe, but the region's indebted governments remain under heavy pressure. Spain and Italy are fighting to keep their borrowing costs down and European leaders are struggling to find agreement on how best to fix the shared currency's deeper problems.

As cleanup crews swept Athens' central Syntagma Square and took down election posters, Greeks waited anxiously for the formation of a new government, seeing it as the last step to ending at least the acute phase of the current political crisis.

The New Democracy party, which supports keeping Greece's bailout deal with its European government creditors, was moving to form a coalition government Monday morning after securing a narrow victory over anti-austerity Syriza and its old socialist rival PASOK.

"We'll breathe easier when there's a government in place," said George Moutafidis, who runs a sandwich shop in the Syntagma Square.

"Yesterday's result is somewhat positive, but we need a government in place to start making decisions. You need to just do it. That's it."

A New Democracy-led government could lead the way to talks with international creditors on getting it more time to fix its broken finances. European officials are signaling a willingness to talk ? and avoid an aid cutoff that could force Greece out of the euro. A euro exit by Greece could have further destabilized the 17-country single currency union and rocked the world economy.

Any hope that news out of Greece might have eased concern over the state of Europe's finances were quickly dashed Monday morning.

"The crisis is far from over," Commerzbank analyst Christoph Weill in a note to investors. "A sovereign default by Greece and the country's exit from the monetary union have probably been avoided for the time being. "

Spain's borrowing costs spiraled higher in a sign markets remained deeply skeptical about Europe's chances to contain and end the crisis. Interest rates, or yields, on 10-year government bonds ? a key indicator of how bad the crisis is ? spiked to just over 7 percent. That is a new high since Spain joined the euro in 1999 and indicates increasing doubt that the country will be able to manage without a bailout like the ones received by Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

Yet Spain is bigger than the three bailout countries combined, and would stretch the eurozone's ?500 billion bailout fund if help were needed. The country has already asked for ?100 billion to bailout its banking system, weighed down with heavy losses on bad real estate loans.

Italy has also been caught up in concerns that it might soon be able to keep a lid on its debt without help. Its economy is the third largest in Europe, after Germany and France, but it has a massive amount of debt. The worry is that if Italy's economy continues to slow, it won't be able to maintain its debt. Italian bond yields Monday rose to 6.07 percent.

One reason for the market's wariness over Europe is there is still a lot of work to be done in Greece before it can consider itself out of the immediate danger of full-blown economic collapse and possible exit from the euro.

New Democracy, which still has to reach agreement this week with another party to have enough seats to govern, favors continuing with the ?240 billion bailout deal from other eurozone governments and the International Monetary Fund on which the country has survived for more than two years.

Continued bailout money hinges on keeping to an agreement to cut spending and make Greece's bureaucracy-choked economy more business friendly so it can grow out of its troubles in the long term. Yet Greece's plummeting economy is making it harder for it to reduce its budget deficit by the required about. Failure to keep to the bailout deal could result in an aid cutoff, leaving the government unable to repay its remaining debt.

The previous government said the government would run out of money July 20 if more funds are not received. Greece's economy is teetering over the abyss, with businesses struggling to pay suppliers and depositors steadily pulling money out of already troubled banks. The shrinking economy lowers tax receipts and makes the debt burden larger by comparison.

European finances ministers said the "troika" officials from the European Union's executive commission, the IMF and the European Central Bank will visit Athens as soon as a government is formed "to exchange views with the new government on the way forward."

Germany's Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said late Sunday that Greece had to implement all agreed reforms but that "I can well imagine talking again about timelines."

The country was originally supposed to identify ?11.5 billion in budget cuts for the next two years year by the end of this month. That deadline has probably slipped, and the new government may seek to make the cuts over a longer period.

However, many analysts think Greece may still wind up leaving the euro, either to improve its economy's competitiveness through introducing a weaker currency, or because it may needs to print its own money to bailout banks or pay salaries.

Meanwhile, Europe's governments are struggling to agree on measures to put new foundation under the euro. Without agreement on bold new steps, a June 28-29 summit of European leaders may fall short of expectations and lead to even more market tension ? as such several such summits have typically done in the past.

"Lending money is all about confidence, and that is shot to bits right now," said Gary Jenkins, managing director of the Swordfish Research Ltd.

There are also concerns that because Greece has agreed to stick with the bailout, this might alleviate pressure on politicians to act quickly. Expectations for a substantial response from governments are high for a summit gathering of European leaders such as Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel and France's President Francois Hollande next week.

European leaders have conceded the euro's foundations were flawed when it was introduced in 1999. Rules against big deficits failed to keep governments from running up too much debt through overspending, as in Greece, or needing to bail out banks, as in Ireland and Spain. Proposals could include some form of common borrowing, tighter central EU control of individual countries' spending and debt, and centralized supervision and bailouts of weak banks.

Yet all proposals are controversial because they involve countries giving up authority over their finances, and Germany, the biggest eurozone member and in relatively good shape, opposed to being put on the hook for other people's debts.
